Robotic Surgery Workshop

1 3 - 14 November 2008

Course Description

Robotic Surgery is becoming more and more popular especially in performing highly skilled procedure like prostatectomy, pieloplasty, tubal reanastomosis, etc. The development of robotic devices have made this device more and more user-friendly and its application and utilization in surgery is increasing. A full intensive two-days curriculum is the basis for the comprehensive basic training course in robotic surgery. In order to improve the skill of the participants the program is developed and implemented utilizing all the high-tech facilities like 3-D projection, hands-on training on wet-tissue and introductory lectures on specific topics on the use of robotic in surgery.

Course Objective

During the two days course, the participant will focus on the basic principles and the fundamental skill of the use of surgical robot. An overview on the system itself, port-positions, instrumentation, robotic setup will provide to all the participants the standard requirements to start a robotic programme in their practice. The course will be completed by a Full day session on Hands-on training on wet-tissue that allow the participants to perform from simple task to more advanced procedure like suturing, dissection and simple surgical procedures like appendectomy, cholecystectomy, etc.. With rapid technological advancements, it is important to continue updating of current technology especially in robotic surgery.
