9th International Laparoscopic Workshop on Abdominal Wall Surgery, Biomaterials and Single Port Surgery

3 - 4 August 2009

Course Description

This is a two-day programme offering a comprehensive overview on the multidisciplinary management of hernia patients. We will focus on both open and laparoscopic surgery for Hernia Repair and discuss the most recent advances of medical and surgical treatment. Today, different approaches are available, from suture repair in different fashion to tension-free repair, and from laparoscopic to preperitoneal repair, all these with good surgical outcome in terms of recurrence, chronic pain and cost. The key of the success is that each approach must be chosen depending upon local circumstances such as surgeon training and skill, equipment availability, anesthesia, patient’s clinical condition.

  • Provide knowledge of open and laparoscopic treatment for ventral and inguinal hernia repair
  • Learn how to choose and use different prosthetic materials
  • Focus on different surgical techniques for hernia repair
