Workshop on Medical Video Editing (NEW)

Introduction

The digital age has caused a significant impact on the medical field and together with the advent of minimally invasive techniques, having digital documentation has improved the standard of clinical presentations, teaching, and congress lectures.

Video Editing is a skill that surgeons must possess to properly document his personal cases and more importantly to share with colleagues a clearer and more comprehensible picture of the procedures performed in a peer-review setting. Likewise, properly edited video presentations are gaining more popularity in international meetings where vivid images displaying actual surgical techniques and styles can be easily conveyed to the audience. Video presentations are even preferred by a growing number of surgeons over plain lecture conferences.

This one-day workshop in Medical Video Editing will address the needs of the beginner as well as the experienced editor by introducing basic principles in digital equipment and techniques as well as elucidate the capabilities of advanced special effects. The course will focus on:

  • Equipment Requirements
  • Importing Videos
  • Editing Clips
  • Creating transitions and sound tracks
  • Trans-coding the final product
  • Incorporating video material into PowerPoint
Learn from our team of 3D graphics experts, top-rated audio-video technicians, digital animators, as well as our pool of technology savvy surgeons. Start making your own presentations or awe your fellow physicians and patients with eye-catching maneuvers and deliver a more effective message.

To be a more effective learning experience, participants are requested to bring their personal equipment during the workshop. Minimum system requirements are as follows:
  • PC Laptop/Notebook (no MACs)
  • Windows XP (Vista is welcome)
  • Centrino/Athlon 1.5GHz processor (Core 2 Duo is preferred)
  • 1GB RAM, and
  • 10GB free disk space
At the completion of the course, participants will be familiar with the various video formats and file types from AVI to MPEG to MXF and be able to import them to a preferred editing software. Add sounds and music, labels, simultaneous picture-in-picture clips to your videos. Furthermore, you will be able to acquire digital images from most common sources, manipulate video material into a respectable and presentable multi-media product. Course Fee inclusive of licensed editing software.
